Oak Island Resort Our resort is located on the northwest side of Oak Island, Minnesota on one of the approximately 14,500 islands in Lake of the Woods. To reach our scenic island location you can boat 6½ miles from Young’s Bay located at the Northwest Angle , or you can boat from the south shore of Lake of the Woods, by private boat or launch.
Northwest AngleThe Northwest Angle of Minnesota is located approximately 65 miles from either Warroad or Roseau, Minnesota. This 1 to 2 hour scenic drive takes you through the international boundary of the United States and Canada to Young’s Bay which is located at the Northwest Angle. Young’s Bay Resort offers convenient parking and boat launching facilities at a nominal fee.
Border Crossing Information Canada still requires a valid drivers license and birth certificate for proof of identity and citizenship. The US land border crossing requirement of having a valid passport has been delayed until 2009. Click here for U.S. border crossing details!
Launch Services-Northwest Angle Island Passenger Service offers launch transportation to our resort from Young’s Bay and is available on a first come first serve basis. Contact us for details.
Launch Services-South Shore Ford’s Transport Services offers transportation to our resort from Rocky Point on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10 a.m. On demand service is also available. Call 218-783-7356 or 218-689-1533 for details.
Lake of the Woods Passenger Service offers on demand transportation to our resort from Sportsman’s Lodge on Rainy River. Call 218-634-1342 or 218-556-9444 for details.
RABC Permit For those who wish to obtain a Remote Area Border Crossing Permit (RABC) you can apply in person at the Canadian Customs and Immigrations port-of-entry in Rainy River, Ontario or mail your application to Thunder Bay Citizenship and Immigration Canada Office: Ste 108 – 221 Archibald Street North, Thunder Bay, ON P7C 3Y3, Telephone (807) 624-2158.
